«A is D years younger than B»: A = B − D. Trap: if A's age is given, B = A + D. «younger» is the opposite of «older».

## In Jewish tradition

Here it often means the younger of two children, as in the younger daughter. It is used just as in everyday English.

**Interpretation.** The tradition notices that the younger often comes out ahead in the stories, such as Jacob, Joseph and Ephraim. Laban's words about not giving the younger before the first-born are taken as the custom of that place.
